Online Launches

What is the Online Launch?

The Scholars Programme will begin with an Online Launch Event hosted by The Brilliant Club. This is an exciting opportunity that will introduce students to The Scholars Programme and university life. This will take place on Zoom, within school hours, and will be specific to your students’ Key Stage.

What will the Online Launch include?

The Online Launch will include:

  • an introduction to The Scholars Programme
  • an inspirational keynote
  • an Information, Advice and Guidance session
  • a Q and A session with Student Ambassadors

There will be opportunities and encouragement to interact with the speakers in the Zoom Webinar chat, so please be prepared to type on behalf of your students. Your students will not need to take notes during the event, but they are welcome to if they wish.

When do the Online Launches take place?

Your Programme Officer will email you a School Placement Schedule with the date and time of your Online Launch at least one month before they are scheduled to take place.

How do I access the Online Launch?

We will email you with the Zoom Webinar link at least 3 days before your event. This email will come from trips@thebrilliantclub.com. Please ensure this address is not blocked, and check your junk mailbox if you have not received it by this time. The trips team will be hand before and during the event, so please contact trips@thebrilliantclub.com if you have any issues joining the Zoom Webinar.

What do I need to do to prepare?

  1. Book a room with a screen or devices for your students to watch and take part in the event.
  2. Ensure your students know when and where they need to be to watch and take part in the event.
  3. A few days before the event, ensure that you have received the Zoom link by email, and check that the device(s) you will be using are working and can access Zoom.
  4. At the beginning of the event, click the Zoom link and let us know in the chat that you have arrived!

Does a teacher need to be present during the Online Launch?

A member of staff will need to be present to join the Zoom Webinar and set up the event on the screen(s) for students to watch, and ideally to encourage and enable student engagement and interaction with the event hosts. For older students, you may prefer to send them the link to the Zoom webinar to join independently if you wish.

Will our tutor be present at the Online Launch?

No, the Online Launches are for students and teachers only. Your students will meet and begin to get to know their tutor at their Tutor-Led Launch, which will take place shortly after the Online Launch.

Can parents/carers attend the Online Launch?

You are welcome to share the Zoom Webinar link with parents/carers if you wish, however, please note that the Online Launch is designed for students and teachers only. For parent and carers, we host bespoke events in the early evening where they can find out more about how they can support their child on The Scholars Programme and information about Higher Education. Please encourage parents/carers to sign up to The Brilliant Club newsletter, where they will be kept informed of the dates, times and sign-up links to these events.

My students cannot attend the Online Launch, is there an alternative date?

The Online Launch is a national, Key Stage specific event, held once each term. If your students are unable to join the live event, please inform your Programme Officer who can send you the event recording for your students to watch at a more convenient time. If your students are unable to watch the Online Launch, please inform your Programme Officer and tutor, who will be able to adapt the Tutor-Led Launch content accordingly, to ensure your students are prepared to begin their Scholars Programme tutorials.
